Project Manager – Leisure Industry (Construction & Refurbishment)

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to deliver a varied programme of construction, remodel and refurbishment projects across our national Places Leisure estate. This role offers broad responsibility—from essential lifecycle upgrades to exciting new developments including Paddle Court installations.

Reporting to the Head of Projects, the role holder will directly manage projects including refurbishment, alteration and fit-out projects, along with occasional technology and innovation projects. They will act as the client-side Project Manager for larger scale projects working alongside our consultants and contractors. The role holder will own and manage all projects in their remit, from inception to practical completion along with post-handover monitoring and ensure delivery of a cost-effective, client-focused solution.

 

What You'll Do

  • Manage multiple construction and refurbishment projects from feasibility to handover
  • Ensure compliance with CDM and UK Building Regulations
  • Oversee budgets, tender processes and contractor performance
  • Drive improvements in quality, cost control and project documentation
  • Collaborate with internal teams, consultants and contractors
  • Support innovation projects across the leisure estate
  • Own every stage of the project lifecycle -feasibility, design, tender, delivery, handover.
  • Collaborate with Business Development on redevelopment proposals and bids.

 

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience delivering construction or refurbishment projects
  • Strong understanding of Building Regulations, CDM and planning
  • RICS, APM PMQ, PRINCE2 or equivalent qualification
  • Skilled in tendering, change control and cost management
  • Confident communicator with a proactive, client-focused approach
  • Understanding of the tender processes (including tender development), project costing and change control processes
