More about your role
As Head of Surveying Services, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership across a national multi-functional service, bringing together regional surveying teams, a central operations support function and the Fire Risk Assessment service. You'll be responsible for ensuring high-quality, efficient and customer-focused service delivery that aligns with regulatory requirements, organisational priorities and customer needs.
You'll drive productivity, service improvement and transformation across the function, using data, digital tools and AI-enabled solutions to improve operational performance, workforce planning, scheduling and quality assurance. You'll lead on performance, budget management and service optimisation, ensuring programmes are delivered safely, efficiently and to agreed quality standards. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you'll provide strategic insight, identify opportunities for continuous improvement and lead a high-performing leadership team focused on delivering value for money and excellent customer outcomes.
Essential Criteria
- Significant senior leadership experience managing large-scale, geographically dispersed operational teams within housing, property, asset, compliance or a related environment.
- Proven track record of delivering complex operational services against challenging performance, quality and budget targets whilst improving productivity and customer outcomes.
- Experience leading service transformation programmes, including redesigning operating models, improving workflows and embedding continuous improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrable experience managing in-house, outsourced and hybrid service delivery models, including contractor performance and commercial management.
- Relevant degree-level qualification and professional membership such as RICS or CIOB, or equivalent professional experience.
More about you
You'll be an experienced senior operational leader with a strong background in managing complex, customer-facing services. You will have a proven ability to lead multi-functional teams, drive performance and implement operational improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency and value for money. You're comfortable using data and insights to inform decisions and have experience introducing digital or AI-enabled solutions to improve service delivery.
You'll bring strong commercial awareness, with experience managing contractors and mixed delivery models to achieve high standards of service and compliance. You'll be confident leading organisational change, developing high-performing leadership teams and building collaborative relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. Knowledge of social housing surveying and property services environments, including compliance, disrepair, damp and mould or fire risk assessment services, would be advantageous. You'll also hold, or be willing to work towards, a Level 5 Housing Management qualification or equivalent in line with regulatory requirements.
