More about your role
As our Head of Field Operations, you lead teams delivering field services in an area that has been through a period of change and now needs stability, improvement, and clear direction. You take ownership for fixing what is not working, improving ways of working, and ensuring customers receive a reliable, safe, and positive service. This is a fast paced role where priorities shift quickly, requiring confident decision making and the ability to maintain momentum.
You are accountable for compliance across field operations, ensuring homes are well maintained, work is completed on time, and all health, safety, housing, and regulatory requirements are met. You work closely with managers to ensure staff are managed through clear and consistent HR processes, including performance management, absence, conduct, and capability, in line with policy.
You manage budgets, people, and contractors effectively, support managers through change, and use performance and compliance data to identify issues, drive improvement, and provide clear, practical advice to senior leaders. You are confident challenging constructively when needed, using evidence and experience to influence decisions while maintaining strong working relationships.
Essential Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Senior leadership experience leading large operational teams within housing, property, repairs, or field services, with accountability for performance, safety, compliance, and service delivery.
- Clear knowledge and practical experience of housing legislation, health and safety, and regulatory compliance, with direct responsibility for ensuring services meet statutory and organisational requirements.
- Proven experience leading teams through change, including stabilising services, addressing underperformance, and improving operational and compliance related processes.
- Strong financial management experience, including setting and managing budgets, controlling costs, and producing performance or financial reports.
- Experience working within HR frameworks, supporting managers to manage people issues through defined HR processes and policies, including performance management, attendance, conduct, and workforce planning.
Desirable Criteria
- A professional qualification in housing, construction, or building services.
- Experience working with digital workforce or scheduling systems.
- Understanding of sustainability or low carbon technologies within housing maintenance or repairs services.

You bring senior leadership experience from large operational teams within housing or property services and are confident balancing service delivery, compliance, and people management. You are comfortable working with HR colleagues and policies to ensure teams are managed fairly, consistently, and effectively. You can handle complex operational challenges, think strategically, and make sound decisions using data, judgement, and problem solving skills. You communicate confidently, influence effectively, and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, supported by strong commercial awareness.
