The Data and Platform Engineering team is the backbone of the Data Office, designing, building, and managing PfP's data products and infrastructure. We extract, transform, and publish data for colleagues to use.
Having moved from On Premise to Google Cloud, Data Engineering is now creating a tech-leading Data Mesh platform. It's a great opportunity to join our growing team and work directly with technologies like BigQuery, Looker, Data Flow, Terraform, GIT, Airflow, and more.
More about your role
The Senior Data Engineer leads the design, development, and delivery of data platforms and products. Collaborating with product managers, architects, and engineers, you will address technical challenges and provide well-documented solutions for both technical and business audiences. In your product squad, you'll oversee the entire product lifecycle, from initial design to decommissioning. Additionally, you are expected to mentor junior team members, uphold quality standards, and review peers' work.

The ideal candidate is a skilled data engineer who demonstrates strong technical proficiency and applies logical problem-solving to drive projects to completion. Expertise in SQL and Python is essential, as is significant experience with DBT, GIT, and Terraform. The ability to quickly learn and adopt emerging technologies ensures continued alignment with the latest developments in our tech stack.
This role requires creativity and innovation, along with the capacity to develop new solutions and produce reliable, efficient, and well-documented code. The candidate will assess challenges, determine optimal strategies, and present clear plans and accurate estimates to achieve successful, timely outcomes.

Experience & Skills
- Data Engineering with a focus on ETL / ELT
- Languages: SQL and python
- Tooling: DBT, GIT, Terraform, IAM, Composer (Airflow), Docker
- Platform: Strong preference - GCP (BigQuery) ; Minimum - Azure / AWS
- Documentation, change management, ci/cd, environment control (dev/prod/test)
- Concepts: Data Mesh, Test Driven Design, Agile
