At Places for People, we hire people – not numbers. If you like the sound of this role, we'd love to hear from you. Experience matters, but what matters most is someone who lives our People Promises: doing the right thing, bringing energy and pride to their work, valuing community, treating others with respect, and genuinely caring about the places we look after. As the UK's leading Social Enterprise, we're committed to building safe, inclusive and thriving communities for our customers and our colleagues.

More about the role

In this role, you'll be out and about across our neighbourhoods, making sure our buildings and communal areas are safe, compliant and well maintained. You'll carry out regular property and site inspections, completing checks on essential systems such as fire doors, emergency lighting, lifts, fire equipment and automatic doors. You'll keep accurate, real-time records and report any risks or issues quickly to keep our customers protected.

You'll also play an important part in maintaining safe communal spaces—removing unauthorised items in line with Scottish legislation, arranging signage, reporting repairs, supporting contractor access and completing minor housing management tasks linked to works and site upkeep. Some general admin will also form part of your day-to-day role.

More about you

You'll bring experience from a housing or property environment and have a strong understanding of health and safety compliance for registered social landlords. You'll be organised, thorough, confident using IT and comfortable problem-solving on your own. Just as importantly, you'll communicate clearly and professionally with customers, colleagues and contractors, and you'll feel confident working independently while representing Places for People out in our communities.

Benefits

We're a large, diverse and ambitious organisation, which means plenty of opportunity for growth, challenge and development. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Competitive salary with annual review
  • Pension with matched contributions up to 7%
  • Excellent holiday entitlement – up to 35 days, with the option to buy or sell leave
  • Healthcare cashback plan – up to £500 back each year
  • A 2% annual bonus scheme for all colleagues
  • A wide range of training and development opportunities
  • Extra perks including discounts at retailers, cinemas and more

Armed Forces - We are proud to support the Armed Forces Covenant. Places for People will guarantee an interview for any candidate who is serving or has formerly served in the Armed Forces, as a reservist, armed forces veteran (including the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructor and military spouse/partner and who meets the essential criteria for the vacancy.

Disability Confident - We are proud to be a member of the Disability Confident scheme certified as Level 2 Disability Confident Employer. This helps us to successfully employ and retain people with disabilities and health conditions. Disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for a vacancy will be guaranteed an interview. The Equality Act 2010 (Disability Discrimination Act 1995 for NI) defines a disabled person as someone who has a physical or mental impairment that has sa substantial and long-term negative effect on their ability to do daily activities.

Neurodivergent – Neurodiverse individuals have highly valuable skills, and we recognise that a traditional interview process sometimes works against them and doesn’t allow them to self-advocate. Neurodiverse applicants who meet the criteria for a vacancy will be guaranteed an interview.
