Osterna, part of RMG and Places for People Group, is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join a proactive and highly successful team of Health & Safety Professionals.
Where will I be working?
Remote role based working predominantly from home however UK wide travel is essential for this role
About the Role
Are you an experienced operations leader with a passion for compliance and team development? Osterna is seeking an Operations Manager to lead and coordinate a national team of Fire and Health & Safety Risk Assessors. You'll ensure the delivery of fully compliant Fire Risk Assessments across our portfolio, supporting the safety of residential buildings throughout England.
This is a line management role with responsibility for 4 direct reports and around 30 indirect report. You'll play a key part in training, supporting, and motivating your team, setting SMART objectives, and monitoring performance to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all residential buildings in Osterna's portfolio have compliant Fire Risk Assessments in place.
- Train and manage a team of Fire Risk Assessors, providing clear guidance and support.
- Set SMART objectives and monitor individual and team KPIs, supported by Senior Assessors.
- Schedule and deploy compliance checks across RMG's portfolio, monitoring progress and addressing challenges.
- Review Auditor's reports for accuracy and compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, providing detailed reporting to the Head of Osterna.
- Identify risks and areas for improvement, presenting regular updates to Senior Management.
About You
Essential:
- Full UK driver's licence and access to own vehicle.
- Proven experience in field operations management, ideally in compliance or audit-related roles.
- Extensive labour planning and scheduling experience for timely completion of Fire asset checks.
- Strong people management and leadership experience, especially managing remote teams.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality assessments.
- Proficient in IT packages including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and internet.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a personable approach.
- Highly organised, able to plan and organise work for yourself and your team.
- Experience managing P&L, finance, and budgets.
Technical/Professional Qualifications:
- NEBOSH Fire Safety qualification preferred.
