We're looking for an enthusiastic and driven Product Manager to join our Data Office, where our goal is to equip the organisation with high-quality, well-governed and innovative data solutions.  As part of the Data Governance team, you will play a vital role in shaping, delivering, and enhancing data engineering and data governance products that meet the needs of our organisation and its customers. More about your role  

As the Product Manager for Data Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategy and execution of our data engineering initiatives.  

You will be responsible for  

  • Defining the Product Vision and Roadmap: Establishing and maintaining a clear product vision, translating it into a roadmap that aligns with the organisation's strategic goals and data governance objectives.
  • Managing the Product Backlog: Prioritising and refining the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business priorities and stakeholders' needs.
  • Delivering High-Quality Data Solutions: Overseeing the development of data products that meet the needs of our internal stakeholders, ensuring solutions are reliable, secure, and scalable.
  • Sprint Planning and Delivery: Actively participating in sprint planning sessions to ensure the engineering team understands priorities and deliverables on a sprint-by-sprint basis, enabling efficient progress toward the product roadmap. (Whilst were not fully agile and understanding of scrum principles would be beneficial)

Your technical acumen, combined with your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, will be crucial in driving the success of our data products.  

More about you  

Ideally you will have previous experience as a Data Product Manager or Product Owner role, with experience of leading cross-functional efforts and ability to develop forward-thinking solutions in data management and compliance. 

Experience & Skills 

  • 3+ years of experience in a Product Owner or similar role, with a focus on data engineering or data products. 
  • Proven track record of delivering successful data engineering projects and supporting data governance initiatives in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, including ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, data modelling, data governance practises and cloud-based data technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). 
  • Hands-on experience with data engineering tools and platforms, particularly Google BigQuery, is highly desirable. 
  • Ability to explore and query data using SQL.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
