About the Role
We're looking for a proactive and reliable Caretaker to join our team at Royal William Yard, working specifically within the residential areas of the site. This is a key role supporting the Building Manager in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the communal spaces, ensuring a welcoming environment for residents.

Where will I be working?

Royal William Yard, Plymouth, PL1 3RP

Working Hours

  • 16 hours per week:
    • Thursday – 4 hours
    • Friday – 8 hours
    • Saturday morning – 4 hours
  • Hours can be worked flexibly - Occasional additional hours/overtime may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily inspections of communal areas, identifying and resolving maintenance issues.
  • Support with basic maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Conduct weekly fire alarm and emergency lighting checks.
  • Record monthly utility meter readings and assist with site inspections.
  • Maintain security across the residential blocks
  • Liaise with residents and contractors, ensuring health and safety standards are upheld.
  • Supervise contractors and support cleaning staff when required.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

About You

  • Experience in facilities or caretaking within commercial or residential settings.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Ability to carry out basic maintenance and repair work.
  • A professional, courteous approach with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Awareness of health and safety and fire safety procedures.
