Development Manager Role
For this role the primary focus initially will be to work alongside the development team to manage the master planning of new villages at Gilston in East Hertfordshire, an exciting new Community of 8,500 homes and supporting community infrastructure and amenties . There may be other projects that you may be involved in at a later date that could include large scale complex multi-tenure and mixed-use developments, private and affordable development, as well as joint venture schemes.
As a Development Manager you will report into the Head of Development and support the senior development team in managing: planning, design, consultants, programming, project costs, community engagement and procurement. You may also be asked to assist with a range of land and s106 related requirements of the project.
There will be an expectation for you to be based out of our office at Gray's Inn Rd WC1X with core project team days (currently Monday and Tuesday) and the remaining days flexible including the option to work from home and a requirement to travel to sites as and when the business requires. .

More about you
It is essential that you have a minimum of 1 year in a Development Manager or related position and at least 3 years overall in the property industry. Experience of larger scale residential developments is preferred but as a minimum, schemes of 200+homes plus should have been worked on.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who understands the commercial and financial requirements of all housing of all tenures, although we will support you to gain an understanding if your career to date has specialised in specific tenures only. It is preferred that you have a DM, planning, design or master planning background.
You should be commercially minded and understand the impact that design decisions could have on the project viability. You will also need to be highly analytical, able to identify risks and opportunities from current and future developments and act accordingly.
Preferably you should have some experience of community engagement and be confident managing and speaking to stakeholders.
Whilst an understanding of financial modelling of developments would be advantageous, it is not essential for this role.
